Mental Health & Wellbeing
Good mental health and wellbeing is an essential part of healthy development in children. It allows them to learn effectively, cope with daily challenges, and develop into resilient, confident young people. There are a number of things that schools can do to support the mental health and wellbeing of their community.
Evidence suggests there are 5 key areas that support positive mental health and improved well-being both in our children and in ourselves;
- Connecting with other people;
- Being physically active;
- Learning new skills;
- Giving to others;
- Paying attention to the present moment (mindfulness).
Attending to and promoting these things can help to improve mood, increase energy and positivity and help us all get the most out of life. We will be focusing on these five areas of mental health and well-being in school as a framework to learn about looking after ourselves. Look out for the display board coming soon
