Sunday 10th May 2020
Like you, I am sure, we sat by the television earlier this evening listening to the announcements from our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson. Since then, I have spoken to key staff at the school and with Mrs. Budge, head teacher at Westbury Infants school.
The most urgent issue was the number of parents who now may be going to work tomorrow morning and are contemplating what might be done to care for their children. We all have great sympathy for any of you that suddenly have this problem to solve. Unfortunately at the moment our school position has not altered and we will only be admitting Key Worker children until June 1st. We do not have the safety measures in place to manage anymore children.
Tomorrow, both schools are meeting their respective Leadership Teams to start to plan the management of the Year 6s arriving in school on June 1st, ensuring social distancing and appropriate staffing levels but above all, keeping everyone safe and healthy.
We are expecting more guidance from National and local Government tomorrow which we hope will inform our decisions over the next day or so. As soon as we have a clear workable plan, we will share it with our school community. Please bear with us during this time of uncertainty.
Finally, it is very humbling to see our local Westbury community respond so positively to our efforts in keeping our school open. Your encouragement is hugely appreciated by the staff.
