Year 6 Residential

Every year, we take our Year 6 children on a residential stay. As a school, we feel this is a great way for them to experience new things, develop some independence, try their hand at a variety of activities and both staff and children have a lot of fun!

The residential trip takes place at Hooke Court Education Centre, Dorset. We have used this centre for several years now and are familiar with the staff and activities.

If you would like to find out more information about Hooke Court, you can visit their website:

Over the years the children have enjoyed shelter building, talent shows, barn-dancing, team-building games, bridge building, obstacle courses, orienteering, woodland walks and of course midnight feasts!

The children will sleep in bunk-bedded dormitories and will choose who they share a room with. A teacher from WJS will be on call at all times.

The cost for the trip will be confirmed at a later date but will cover travel to and from Hooke Court, a 3-day/ 2-night stay and all meals apart from lunch on the first day.

We want every child at WJS to take part so if you have any financial concerns or other issues then do come in to school and speak to a teacher so we can accommodate these needs.

March 2021

We are in the process of organising a residential for our current Y6 pupils in July 2021 as lockdown is due to ease from June 2021. Current year 6 parents have been informed about these arrangements and letters given out. Any further updates will be added below.

Hooke Court Parent Letter

Due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19, we have decided to postpone our Year 6 residential to Hooke Court, originally planned for September 2020. We will be setting a new date in the Spring or Summer term, but the visit will include the same activities.

Hooke Court is an important and exciting experience for all our pupils, and we continue to aim for all Year 6 children to take part in the visit.
We will be contacting all current Year 5 parents with further information. Timings for payment of deposits and the remaining balance will be adjusted, but we encourage parents to commit to the visit and pay the deposit as soon as possible, so that we can put other plans in place.

We continue to work towards planning a memorable and enjoyable visit for all. Thank you for your ongoing support. Stay safe and well.
