Joining the school

For pupils without an EHCP, admissions administration is dealt with centrally by Wiltshire Council. This is both for starting the school in Year 3 and transferring from another school at any point during the academic year.

For pupils with an EHCP who are apply our main stream school, these are handled via the Wiltshire SEND team as part of a child's Education Health Care Plan Annual Review, in conjunction with the school, parent and the SEND lead worker.

Admissions to our Resource Base

Our Resource Base provides specialist provision for pupils with identified special educational needs who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

How is a Resource Base place requested?

Places within our Resource Base are not applied for directly through the school, and parents and carers cannot make a direct application to the Resource Base.

If your child already has an EHCP and you feel that a Resource Base placement may better meet their needs, this should be discussed as part of their EHCP Annual Review.

During the Annual Review process, parents/carers and the professionals supporting the child can discuss whether a change of educational placement or specialist provision should be considered. A request for a Resource Base placement should then be progressed through your child's SEND Lead Worker as part of the EHCP review process.

The school itself cannot allocate, offer or guarantee a Resource Base place.

We are very happy to speak with families who would like to learn more about our Resource Base and the provision we offer. However, visiting the school or discussing our provision does not constitute an application and does not guarantee that a place will be offered.

If you believe our Resource Base may be appropriate for your child, please speak to your child's current school/SENCo and SEND Lead Worker so this can be considered through their EHCP review.

Please note: Resource Base admissions are separate from mainstream school admissions. Applying for a mainstream place at our school does not constitute an application for, or provide access to, a Resource Base place.

Secondary School Admissions 

In year 6, we begin to plan their transition to secondary school, giving children the opportunity to visit their chosen school and completing activities in preparation for this new start. Mrs Orr also runs a 'secondary ready' club each year open to all year 6 children to help them understand how the transition works and feel ready to make the move. 

We feed predominantly into Matravers School in Westbury and Kingdown school in Warminster and work closely with both schools throughout the year to ensure a smooth handover.
