Computing
Computing is taught systematically throughout Years 3 to 6 using the Purple Mash scheme, adapted where appropriate to meet the needs and context of pupils at Westbury Junior School. Learning is carefully sequenced so that important knowledge and skills are introduced, revisited and progressively deepened.
Computer Science: Pupils develop their understanding of algorithms, programming, coding, logical reasoning, debugging, computer systems and networks. They learn to solve problems systematically and to explain how programs and digital systems work.
Information Technology: Pupils learn to select and use appropriate digital tools to create, organise, store, manipulate and present information. They become increasingly independent in selecting technology for a particular purpose and evaluating the effectiveness of their work.
Digital Literacy: Pupils learn to use technology safely, respectfully, responsibly and critically. They develop their understanding of online communication, privacy, security and digital footprints, while learning to make informed and responsible choices when using technology.
